View Rates →This 10-day mid-luxury safari is designed for travelers who want a relaxed pace, strong wildlife density, and comfortable camps in excellent locations—without rushing through Tanzania. You begin in Arusha with a gentle arrival and a full day in Arusha National Park, then fly into the Serengeti to maximize time on game drives. After multiple Serengeti days, you shift into the Ngorongoro highlands for a dedicated Crater day, then finish with Lake Manyara and Tarangire—two parks known for diverse habitats, elephants, and classic northern circuit scenery.
Accommodation is selected for comfort and positioning: Aya Sophia Wildlife Villa in Arusha, Safari Haven in Serengeti and Tarangire, plus Tortilis camps in Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara areas. Each day is planned around the strongest wildlife viewing windows (early morning and late afternoon), with balanced driving times and time to actually enjoy your camp.
You travel with a professional safari guide and a private 4x4 on all ground segments. We keep logistics smooth and flexible, so your guide can adjust plans to follow fresh sightings, migration movement, or your personal interests (big cats, birds, photography, or family-friendly pacing).
Welcome to Tanzania. On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by our team and transferred privately to Arusha. The drive is comfortable and gives you a gentle first look at the region—Mount Meru often appears on clear days, and the landscape shifts from open plains into greener highland scenery as you approach town.
After check-in at Aya Sophia Wildlife Villa, the rest of the day is designed for recovery and comfort. You can freshen up, enjoy the quiet setting, and take time to reset your body clock. If you arrive early, we can arrange a light optional stop for coffee, an ATM/sim-card stop, or a short craft browse (all optional, and always based on your energy level).
In the evening, we confirm the next day’s timing and go through key safari notes: what to pack for day drives, how picnic lunches work, photography etiquette around wildlife, and how we plan routes each day. Dinner is relaxed—your safari begins in full the next morning, so the goal tonight is a good rest.
Overnight: Aya Sophia Wildlife Villa – Arusha
After breakfast, you head to Arusha National Park—one of Tanzania’s most scenic parks and a perfect introduction before the bigger “classic” safari parks. The landscapes here feel like a highlight reel: montane forest, open glades, crater viewpoints, and the sparkling Momella Lakes that attract a wide range of birdlife.
The morning often begins in the forest zone, where you may see black-and-white colobus monkeys moving through the canopy, plus blue monkeys, bushbuck, and a variety of forest birds. As you transition into open areas, the park becomes excellent for giraffe, zebra, buffalo, warthog, and sometimes elephants. Your guide will pace the day slowly, focusing on good sightings rather than rushing through routes.
You’ll stop for a picnic lunch inside the park in a safe designated area, then continue exploring the Momella region—often a great place for flamingos and other waterbirds depending on season and water levels. You also have time for the Ngurdoto Crater viewpoint (often called “little Ngorongoro”) for a panoramic look into the crater floor below.
Return to Arusha in the late afternoon for a relaxed evening. Tonight is ideal for an early dinner and a good sleep because tomorrow you fly into Serengeti—an exciting day that starts early to maximize your wildlife time.
Overnight: Aya Sophia Wildlife Villa – Arusha
Today you trade road hours for wildlife time. After an early breakfast, you transfer to Arusha Airport for your scheduled flight to Seronera Airstrip in Serengeti. The flight itself is a highlight—watch the terrain shift from highlands to endless savannah as you approach one of Africa’s most famous ecosystems.
On landing, your Serengeti guide meets you and the safari begins immediately. This is typically an “en-route” game drive toward Safari Haven Serengeti, but don’t be fooled by the name—this can feel like a full safari day. The Seronera region has year-round water, which means resident wildlife and reliable predator sightings. Your guide will check the morning’s sighting reports and position you for the best opportunities.
Expect your first serious Serengeti encounters: large herds of zebra and wildebeest, giraffe browsing acacias, elephants moving between river lines, and—if you’re lucky—lions resting on kopjes or cheetahs scanning the plains. You’ll break for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the park, then continue game viewing as the afternoon light improves for photography.
Arrive at camp with time to settle in, enjoy a shower, and relax before dinner. As night falls, you’ll hear Serengeti sounds in the distance—an unforgettable first evening in the bush.
Overnight: Safari Haven – Serengeti
A full Serengeti day means you can follow wildlife without watching the clock. You’ll usually start early—sunrise is one of the best times for movement, when predators may still be active and the light is perfect for photos. Your guide will tailor the day based on what you most want: lions, cheetah, leopard, elephant, or big herd scenes.
The Seronera River and surrounding thickets are excellent leopard habitat, especially in the early morning when they may be returning from hunts. You’ll also explore kopjes (rock outcrops) that act as lookout points for lions and cheetah, and open plains where speed and hunting strategies are on full display.
Picnic lunch is served in the park so you can stay out through the day. In the heat of midday, sightings often shift toward shade and water sources—your guide reads the conditions and adjusts the route. Later, as temperatures drop, activity increases again, and the late afternoon often produces dramatic sightings and excellent golden light.
Return to camp in the evening for dinner and storytelling—your guide will recap the day’s highlights and suggest the next day’s strategy based on what you’ve already seen and what’s still on your wish list.
Overnight: Safari Haven – Serengeti
With multiple Serengeti nights, you get the advantage of depth—rather than one “quick” Serengeti visit, you can explore different zones and wait for the right moments. This day is intentionally flexible and shaped by season and sightings. If the Great Migration is in a reachable area, your guide can focus on the best herds and crossing points available. If not, the emphasis shifts to resident wildlife: lions, cheetah, leopard, hyena, and the constant drama around water and hunting.
You may choose an early start again, or a slightly later departure if you prefer a slower pace—Serengeti rewards both, and your guide will recommend what makes the most sense based on weather and wildlife movement. Expect time around river lines, kopjes, and open plains, with plenty of opportunities to photograph interactions between predators and prey.
Lunch is a picnic in the park (or a stop at camp if you prefer a longer midday break), then you continue into the afternoon. Often, the best sightings happen when you least expect them—a leopard in a tree, a coalition of cheetahs scanning the grass, or elephants crossing quietly at dusk.
If you’d like an optional Serengeti balloon safari, this is the best section of the itinerary to place it (availability dependent). We can organize it as an add-on with early pickup and a bush breakfast after landing.
Overnight: Safari Haven – Serengeti
After breakfast, you head out for a morning game drive—often a perfect “final sweep” for anything still missing from your Serengeti list. Morning light is excellent, and animals are active before temperatures rise. Your guide plans the route to keep it wildlife-focused while also positioning you for a smooth exit from the park.
Later, you begin the drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The scenery changes dramatically as the open plains give way to rolling hills and cooler highland air. Along the way, you’ll pass viewpoints that look back over the Serengeti—an iconic moment that many travelers remember as the “transition” from endless savannah to volcanic highlands.
Arrive at Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp with time to settle in and enjoy the atmosphere. Evenings here are special: cooler air, a sense of elevation, and the anticipation of tomorrow’s Crater descent. Your guide will brief you on Crater logistics (early start, best zones for rhino, picnic timing, and how to maximize the day).
Overnight: Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp
This is one of the most iconic safari days in Africa. You’ll start early for the descent into Ngorongoro Crater—an ancient caldera that holds a remarkable concentration of wildlife within a relatively small area. Because animals don’t migrate out in the same way they do on open plains, the Crater can feel like a natural wildlife arena.
Over the day, you explore different habitats: open grasslands where lions and hyenas patrol, swamp areas filled with hippos, acacia woodland edges where elephants move quietly, and the soda lake that attracts birds. Your guide will focus on strong sightings while also keeping an eye out for one of the Crater’s most special opportunities—black rhino. Sightings are never guaranteed, but Ngorongoro is one of the best places in Tanzania to try.
Picnic lunch is served inside the Crater at a designated site, then you continue game viewing into the afternoon. The day often delivers a “full set” feeling: lions, buffalo, hippo, zebra, wildebeest, elephant, and a wide mix of birds. By late afternoon you ascend back to the rim and return to camp for a warm meal and a restful evening.
Overnight: Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp
After breakfast, you drive down from the highlands toward Lake Manyara National Park. The Rift Valley wall creates dramatic scenery here, and the park itself is surprisingly diverse for its size. You’ll enter through lush groundwater forest where baboons and blue monkeys are common, then gradually open into grassy clearings, marshes, and the lakeshore.
Manyara is known for elephants moving through the forest, and it’s also one of Tanzania’s best parks for birding—flamingos may be present depending on water levels, along with storks, herons, and a wide range of raptors. Your guide will explore the best tracks based on season, looking for hippos, giraffe, buffalo, and—if conditions allow—the famous tree-climbing lions (sightings are seasonal and never guaranteed).
You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park, then continue game viewing into the afternoon before driving to Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp. The evening is relaxed, with time to enjoy the setting, fresh air, and a comfortable dinner after a day of scenic exploration.
Overnight: Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp
After breakfast, you depart for Tarangire National Park—famous for its elephant herds, baobab-studded landscapes, and strong wildlife concentrations along the Tarangire River. The drive is scenic, and arrival timing is planned to give you quality time in the park rather than just a quick pass-through.
Tarangire’s river corridor acts like a magnet for wildlife, especially in drier months when animals gather around reliable water. You’ll spend the day exploring different sections of the park: river loops where elephants, buffalo, and zebra are common; open savannah where lions often patrol; and woodland areas that can produce excellent birdlife and smaller species.
Picnic lunch is enjoyed inside the park so you can stay out through the best viewing hours. Your guide will focus on “high-probability” zones while remaining flexible—if there’s fresh lion movement or a large elephant gathering, you’ll adjust to follow it. Later, you arrive at Safari Haven Tarangire for dinner and a final night in the bush atmosphere.
Overnight: Safari Haven – Tarangire
After breakfast, you’ll depart Tarangire and begin your transfer back to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight. Timing is planned around your departure schedule to keep the day smooth and stress-free. If you have a later flight and would like a short stop in Arusha for lunch or last-minute souvenirs, we can arrange it in advance.
As you travel, your guide will help with final logistics and ensure you’re comfortable all the way to the airport. This marks the end of your Tanzania safari—thank you for traveling with The Luxury Africa DMC.
