Your safari begins with a morning pickup from Arusha town or your hotel in Arusha. After a short briefing, you drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic parks with giant baobab trees and a river system that attracts wildlife throughout the year. Once inside the park, you start your first game drive and settle into safari rhythm as you scan for elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and the many birds that thrive around the Tarangire River.
Your guide follows the best routes based on the day’s wildlife movement, stopping for strong sightings and perfect viewpoints. You enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, then continue game viewing into the afternoon. After the drive, you head to Twiga Lodge & Campsite for dinner and overnight, a practical and convenient base for your camping safari.
Overnight at Twiga Lodge & Campsite or Kizumba Campsite (camping).
After breakfast, you begin the journey toward Serengeti National Park, traveling through changing landscapes as you move from the highlands toward the famous Serengeti ecosystem. The drive is scenic and helps you understand the scale of Northern Tanzania, while your guide shares insight about wildlife patterns and how the Serengeti’s habitats shape daily sightings.
When you enter the Serengeti, the safari becomes immediate. You begin game viewing en-route, watching for lions resting in the shade, cheetahs on open plains, elephants moving across grassland, and herds that draw predators into action. You continue to the central area, known as Seronera, which often offers strong year-round wildlife viewing thanks to water sources and good habitat variety.
In the evening, you arrive at Seronera Campsite for dinner and overnight, experiencing the Serengeti’s bush atmosphere in an authentic camping style.
Today is focused on Serengeti wildlife viewing. After breakfast, you head out for a game drive during prime hours, when animals are active and the light is ideal for photography. Your guide concentrates on productive areas including kopjes, open hunting grounds, and water lines where wildlife gathers. The Serengeti can deliver unforgettable moments—big cats, large herds, and dramatic landscapes that define the classic safari image.
After lunch, you begin your transfer toward the Ngorongoro highlands, leaving the wide plains behind and climbing into cooler air and crater-rim views. The goal is to position you for an early descent into the Crater the next day, which improves timing and maximizes wildlife opportunities. Arriving at the rim also offers a very different atmosphere from the Serengeti—quiet, cool, and dramatic.
Dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite on the Ngorongoro Crater rim (camping).
After an early breakfast, you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for one of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife experiences. The Crater is a natural amphitheater with grasslands, swamps, woodland areas, and a soda lake, supporting a high concentration of animals throughout the year. This is one of the best places to enjoy consistent sightings in a single day.
Expect excellent chances to see lions, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, and elephants, plus rich birdlife around the lake and wetlands. With luck, you may spot the rare black rhino. You enjoy a picnic lunch inside the Crater, then continue the game drive before ascending in the afternoon and driving toward your overnight stop.
Dinner and overnight at Kizumba Campsite or Twiga Lodge & Campsite (camping), depending on logistics and campsite availability.
After breakfast, you drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a final safari experience that contrasts beautifully with the open plains of the Serengeti. Manyara is known for its groundwater forest, scenic lake views, and excellent birdlife. The park also offers chances for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebra, and—depending on conditions—predators and other species that thrive in the forest and open areas.
You enjoy a game drive with stops at key viewpoints and wildlife areas, followed by lunch. This final day is designed to be relaxed and scenic, giving you time to absorb the journey and finish the safari with a different ecosystem and a fresh set of sightings.
After the Lake Manyara experience, you drive back to Arusha for drop-off at Arusha town or Arusha Airport, concluding your 5-day group joining camping safari.
